Project Overview:
As part of this transformative project, the Freelance Infrastructure Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of a complex infrastructure upgrade and migration initiative. This endeavor entails modernizing legacy systems, migrating to cloud-based solutions, and fortifying security measures to safeguard sensitive data and intellectual property.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive project plan, encompassing all aspects of infrastructure modernization and migration efforts.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, assess technical feasibility, and establish realistic timelines and milestones.
- Oversee the implementation of cloud-based infrastructure solutions, leveraging platforms such as AWS or Azure to ensure scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Coordinate with technical experts to deploy containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, facilitating efficient application deployment and management.
- Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate provisioning and configuration management processes.
- Establish robust monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms to proactively identify and address performance issues or security vulnerabilities.
- Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning efforts to ensure the resilience of critical systems and data.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project team members, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among technical teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Environment:
- The project team comprises experienced professionals in infrastructure engineering, cybersecurity, and software development.
- Agile methodologies are employed, with regular sprint cycles, stand-up meetings, and iterative development practices.
- The Infrastructure Project Manager will report directly to the project sponsor and collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in project management, specifically overseeing complex infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical expertise in cloud computing technologies, including AWS, Azure, or GCP, and proficiency in containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and experience using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams in a remote work environment.
- Project management certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are highly desirable.
